With almost no bus service East of the River and very limited subway service River East residents are depending on the roads being cleared in a big way. For those of us with cars if metro service does not resume tomorrow we may be forced to drive on dangerous snow covered streets in order to get to work or run errands. For those without vehicles the consequences may be dire - go without another day of work or unable to run the most basic of errands.
If you are requesting snow removal service for your street please include the street address.

Having no school, I am pretty content, but I think that the city could have done a significantly better job at getting the metro up and running by today, could have cleared roads and side streets a lot faster and been a little more decisive on school closings. DC was NOT prepared to deal with this and it shows.
I've seen 2 plows but I think those were private snow removal companies hired by condo associations. I still can not see the tar of the street - it's still covered with snow. I refuse to drive in these conditions. Mayor Fenty and Michelle Rhee should be ashamed that they even CONSIDERED opening schools today! I understand some children depend on free and reduced meals provided at schools, but other than that - I can't think of any reason, besides politics, that would cause those fools to open schools today.
I think that the major routes and bus routes should be clear by now. My expectations are clearly too high.
The 3300 hundred block of MLK Ave was still covered with snow until this morning - Monday. It remained white/snow covered ALL of Sunday.
I don't understand how that was possible since it is a MAJOR route into and out of the city and within the city. A friend told me that on Sunday you could see asphalt on Alabama Avenue - I was shocked considering how MLK Ave looked!
Deplorable
