I would think the best way to save the river would be to pay the 5 cent bag tax. After all, three out of the five cents for each bag will be used to clean the Anacostia river
The bag tax is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. On Saturday, at the grocery store:
Clerk: "How many bags did you use?" Me: "What? I don't know." Clerk: "You have to count them." Me: "Are you serious? Between double bagging the heavy stuff I probably have 8 bags." Clerk: "I need an exact number." Me: "And I want the last 20 seconds of my life back." Clerk: "What?" Me: "Just charge me for 8."
I actually used 12 and am probably guilty of misappropriation of plastic bags or some other such ridiculousness.
