Sat, November 21, 2009 CM Alexander holds first city-wide meeting for ANC Commissioners.

This sounds like a great idea. Get all the ANC Commissioners in the room with the top directors of the different DC agencies and make sure they know how to work together.  This sounds like a meeting that every single ANC Commissioner in the city should attend. Not only so they can learn how the system works but so they can voice any concerns and make suggestions on how to make the ANC Commissions more effective. The Advoc8te thinks that residents should touch base with their respective SMD Commissioner and stress the importance of attending such a meeting.

A copy of the letter which was sent to ANC Commisisoners is included below.

"As the chair of the committee on Aging and Community Affairs, which has oversight over the ANCs, I will try to meet periodically with the ANC commissioners.  The purpose of this meeting is to give you an opportunity to raise concerns, get answers, and to strenghten the partnership between goverment and the ANCs. There will be ample time for questions. I have invited the following to attend:

• Gottlieb Simon, Executive Director, Office of the ANC
• William Howland, Director, DC Department of Public Works
• Marc Loud, Chairman, Board of Zoning Adjustment
• Anthony Hood, Chairman, Zoning Commission
• Jamison L. Weinbaum, Director, DC Office of Zoning
• Gabe Kelin, Director, DC Department of Transportation
• Linda Argo, Director, DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs"
