Congress Heights is NOT Anacostia! Introducing... The Congress Heights Community Examiner

Reactions:

It may not be the front page of the New York Times but it is still rather cool.

You can now get your Congress Heights and River East fix in an all new forum - online at the DC Examiner. The Examiner has been encouraging ordinary folks like you and me to become Community Examiners, to write about topics or places they are passionate about.

And thus The Congress Heights Community Examiner was born.

Written by a delightful, charming and witty Congress Heights resident (who looks vaguely familiar), The Congress Heights Community Examiner will hopefully become another opportunity for River East and Non River East residents to become familiar with Congress Heights and River East...to show a side often ignored in mainstream media.

The first article is titled, "Lesson of the Day: Congress Heights is NOT Anacostia" details the writers pet peeve about all of River East being called Anacostia. The article also provides some basic information on the Congress Heights community such as location which is hopefully helpful considering the DC Examiner has mistakenly grouped the Congress Heights Examiner webpage as a Los Angeles neighborhood. Eek!

We may have a long way to go but we are getting there.

So please go over to the Congress Heights Community Examiner page and put it on your Favorites list and check it out regularly (like 10 times a day) for news articles and editorials.

LOVE the article. Everyone thinks I live in Anacostia as well, when I'm not even in the same Ward. I think it's great that there so many of us trying to change the perception of River East.

Agreed. There is such a concentration of people really committed to change the perception and bring some positivity to the community!
